We are so excited that show season is back!  We were lucky to be able to make it up to the Grand National Roadster Show in Pomona this January.

We also attended Good Guys Del Mar Nationals as a vendor and Trueline’s 30th Annual Hot Rod Galore Show.

Our last events of the year were the memorials on November 13th and 15th for Bob McCoy.  We were impressed with the turnout and glad we were able to be a part of celebrating the life of such an important figure in hot rod culture.

This is a slow time of year for us so there’s not much more on the news front. We would like to wish everyone happy holidays!

We will be closed Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, but if you have a project here at the shop and would like to come and visit, we should be here any other days!

We don’t have any new projects but we have a full shop here and are making great progress on all of them.  We have a few that are just about ready for delivery.  We’ll take pics and post those as they go for you to see!

29th Annual Street Masters Christmas Cruise for the Kids

Happy Holidays everyone!

Show season is here! I don’t know how but I missed another newsletter! We’re obviously still swamped here.  The guys did find time to attend the 29th Trueline  “Hot Rods Galore” car show last weekend, their first of the season! On the heels of that is Goodguys Meguiar’s 14th Del Mar Nationals April 4-6.   As usual, we’ll have our spot in the Bing Crosby building so make sure to come by our booth!
We have exciting plans in the works for a show of our own this season to commemorate our 10th anniversary, more details will follow in the coming months and will be posted via our blog and on Facebook so make sure you like us and add us to your news feed.

Current Projects

This 1978 Volkswagen Super Beetle Special Edition just got shipped off for upholstery.  The car was purchased new by it’s original owner and has been her one and only ever since.

We were also lucky enough to get to do a little customization on this gorgeous 2014 Chevy Corvette.

Sorry for the break in our newsletter! Despite the end of show season we have been very busy here at the shop and I didn’t have time to get a newsletter out for the new year.  That being said, if you have repairs or a car you need to get into the shop please call well in advance of your anticipated start date so we can schedule you in.  Being this busy makes things a little crazy around here, but it’s definitely a good problem to have.  Thanks again to all our friends and customers for your support and for getting our name out there, believe it or not we will be celebrating our 10th anniversary this year and we couldn’t have done it without all of you!

Current Projects

With our current workload our restorations haven’t been moving at their usual brisk pace, not to mention the problems inherent to locating parts (or in some cases entire donor bodies!) for the unique makes and models we are beginning to see more often. We are very close to completion on our 1972 AMC Gremlin and our 1970 Plymouth Roadrunner. We hope to debut the Roadrunner at Good Guys Del Mar Nationals in April, our season opener.  We have been progressing on our tribute cars, the 1965 Lincoln Continental Convertible and the 1967 Chevy Impala.  The Impala will be ready for paint very shortly.  Our newest projects are a 1960 Austin Healey 3000 and a 1965 Mercedes 230 SL.  We also currently have a collision repair in the shop that’s a first for us, a 1957 Citroen DS-19.

Feb 21-23, 2014 is the Big 3 Parts Exchange 48th annual antique and collector car parts exchange and swap meet at Qualcomm Stadium.

We had a great turn out to Good Guys Fall Del Mar Nationals despite the weather! Sadly, they have announced this was the last Fall show they will be hosting.  We were happily surprised to see Butch Calkins featured prominently on the Thank You email for Good Guys participants.  Butch and his Willys seem to be getting some well deserved notoriety this year!

Current Projects

We’re making progress on the cars we’ve highlighted this year.  The Gremlin paint and body have been completed and is currently undergoing a full mechanical restoration.  We’ll keep you posted on it’s progress along with our clone cars as we get further along.  We’re also excited about our newest project to come in, a 1949 Mercury Eight.

Most, if not all, of our customers know Butch. He has been here at SoCal almost since the beginning. Butch is an expert when it comes to putting together even the trickiest of cars after the body has been through a ground up paint and body restoration. As part of our business we have spent years establishing a database of companies offering rare parts. We recently had a quick collision repair for a customer who needed replacement t-tops for a 1978 Chevy Camaro. But, of course, it’s never THAT easy. There were three main brands of t-tops installed on these vehicles, American, Fisher, and Hurst. American T-Tops are a different size than the other two, and the hardest to find. Much to the customers surprise, we found it, and were able to get the car back on the road! If you need help finding replacement parts for your collector car send us an email with your request and we’ll see what we can do. Remember that AMC AMX we did a few years ago? Keep that beauty in mind when you see the new father and son project that has come in our doors, a 1972 AMC Gremlin! It’s definitely a first for us and we’re glad to see that all these old cars are well loved!

Featured Project

Beep! Beep! Here’s a 1970 Plymouth Roadrunner we’re working on. It doesn’t look like much but we have been hard at work replacing the floors, quarters, trunk floor and bracing. We’re nearly as excited as the owner to be wrapping up the body portion of this project and to get started on the paint! As you can see we didn’t anticipate replacing those quarters but once we got them clean and could see what we were dealing with the decision was a no brainer!
